Michael Sachs

Michael is currently an associate researcher at Stanford University. Previously, he obtained his master’s degree in Molecular Science at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg (Germany) in 2015. Subsequently, he received the "Imperial College President’s PhD Scholarship" to begin his PhD in the group of Prof. James Durrant in the Department of Chemistry.

His research focuses on the study of disordered materials capable of absorbing sunlight to generate molecular fuels, such as hydrogen. For this purpose, Michael studies transition metal oxides and organic polymers. He uses time-resolved spectroscopic techniques at ultrafast timescales to track the processes that occur after light absorption, aiming to understand the factors that limit final efficiency.

He has participated in other editions of the "Youth and Science" program.
