Fundació Catalunya La Pedrera understands sustainability as a commitment grounded in local action.
On this World Environment Day, it is important to highlight the two core areas that define the Foundation’s work: forest management and sustainable energy.
The Foundation manages a network of natural areas across Catalonia with an active and responsible approach. In 2025, it is carrying out actions in ten forest areas — seven owned and three under stewardship agreements — involving forest maintenance, path clearing, water point installation, silvopasture, and the recovery of agricultural land.
Caring for forest health is also a way to protect the land, prevent wildfires, conserve biodiversity, and create social opportunities. It means making the forest an opportunity, not a threat.
These actions take place in areas such as Alinyà (Alt Urgell), Can Maçana (Anoia), Arnes (Terra Alta), the Vilalta forest (Alt Camp), Can Puig de Fitor (Baix Empordà), Mont-rebei (Pallars Jussà and Noguera), Món Sant Benet (Bages), as well as through stewardship agreements in Collserola, Les Gavarres, and the Planes de Son.
This commitment to the territory is also reflected in the Foundation’s facilities, where efforts are focused on reducing energy consumption and generating renewable energy onsite.
In 2024, Món Sant Benet produced 56.8% of its electricity consumption through renewable sources, thanks to its hydroelectric power station and photovoltaic installations.
Significant levels of self-generation have also been achieved at Escola Oms i de Prat (Manresa) and MónNatura Delta, reaching 85% and 80%, respectively.
Fundació Catalunya La Pedrera remains firmly committed to a forward-looking model: rooted in the territory and dedicated to both people and the planet.
