Specifically, the National Research Award for Public-Private Partnership in Research and Innovation, which recognises research activity carried out through a partnership between the public and private sectors in Catalonia.
The Foundation is grateful and celebrates this recognition of its hard work in science, education and research and that it is achieving a significant impact and quality thanks to its partnerships with over fifty research centres, universities and hospitals.
Some of the most noteworthy initiatives include those to encourage young students to go into science; the Talents programme, supporting research in health in partnership with top public hospitals in the Barcelona metropolitan area; and the Ignacio Cirac-Catalunya La Pedrera Foundation Chair in quantum information theory at the Institute of Photonic Sciences (ICFO).
Thanks to this ecosystem the Foundation has built, these public-private partnerships have been woven over the years allowing for a significant push for scientific vocations, boosting local talent and promoting the top-notch research done in Catalonia. All of this brings about better opportunities for the thousands of young people and professionals who take part in the Foundation programmes.
In short, it demonstrates the Foundation’s commitment to generating opportunities for individuals and desire to help improve society as a whole, in this case through science and research.
