  3. Catalunya La Pedrera Foundation takes part in the City and Science Biennial

The City and Science Biennial, which was held this weekend, counted on La Pedrera as a hub for its activity. The auditorium at the building hosted several activities during the week-long event, some of them organised by the Catalunya La Pedrera Foundation.

With a long history of promoting scientific vocations (through programs such as Youth and Science and/or Crazy about Science), the Catalunya La Pedrera Foundation ran Jam Science Barcelona as part of the Biennal. The activity provided visibility to 6 young participants of FCLP programmes with success stories and unique scientific and personal careers.

On the other hand, the Alícia Foundation also ran two activities within the framework of the biennial: the IdEATó, which focused on the main challenges facing the food sector in the future, together with a hundred ESO students, and a round table titled “Healthy and Sustainable Foods”. This latter activity was attended by Dr. Elena Roura, Scientific Director of the Alícia Foundation, and with moderation from the director of the Alícia Foundation, Toni Massanés.

The workshop was a great success in terms of public turnout, and served to reflect and debate on what science knows and how scientists know what we need to eat for a healthy and sustainable diet. The round table also included anthropologist Jesús Contreras and the science journalist Cristina Sáez.
