Construction of a pollinator oasis - 14/07/2022

Climate change and landscapes and land uses transformations have caused many insect species to decline. Some scientific studies even point out that these factors have almost halved insect populations in the most affected areas of the world.

Facing this situation, it is urgent to adopt measures to help us preserve the natural habitats for these species: they are key elements for the environment, since they perform very important functions in local ecosystems, but, in addition, their retreat could be harmful to human health and food safety, especially for pollinating insects.

In this day of environmental volunteering we will create an oasis of pollinators on Mas de Pitoia farm, in the middle of Sebes Natural Reserve. We will plant aromatics and build shelters for insects to adapt the space and make it suitable for these little inhabitants. Will you help us?

We organize the day together with Grup Natura Freixe and Flix Municipality.
