The Ignacio Cirac - Catalonia La Pedrera Foundation Chair at the Institute of Photonic Sciences (ICFO) aims to attract international talent in the field of quantum information theory research. This is the area of research of ​​Juan Ignacio Cirac, director of the Max Planck Institute for Quantum Optics in Garching, winner of the 2006 Prince of Asturias Award and holder of an honorary doctoral degree from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC).
